Start the session
The employee uses the payment terminal to begin the visit and access the fridge.
Inside the smart fridge
The experience is simple for employees, but the fridge is doing several things at once: controlling access, monitoring the visit, measuring product changes and building the basket on screen.
One visit, one transaction
The system combines access, video monitoring and weight changes from the trays into one self-service session.
The employee uses the payment terminal to begin the visit and access the fridge.
The fridge opens for the active session so the employee can browse normally.
The onboard camera provides video oversight of the interaction for security and traceability.
Each product position sits on a weight-sensing tray. Removing an item changes that tray’s measured weight.
Changes from different trays are combined into the same session and added to the basket on screen.
A meal, drink and snack can all be taken in one visit — there is no one-product-at-a-time vending mechanism.
At the end of the interaction, the detected basket is used to complete the transaction.
Why the trays matter
Instead of pushing one item through a vending spiral, every product position can react to a change in weight. That is what makes a flexible multi-item visit possible.
Each position is monitored independently. A change happens at the specific tray where the product is removed.
Several tray changes can belong to one session. The system can build a basket containing different product types.
Product movement also supports stock visibility. The same tray data helps indicate what has moved and what may need replenishment.
The system behind the door
Video oversight adds visibility around each fridge session and can support security and incident review.
Individual product positions register changes in weight when products are removed.
The products detected during the session can be accumulated and shown as one basket.
The payment terminal controls the customer interaction without requiring a staffed checkout.
Product movement data helps Atelier Pantry understand what is being taken and plan replenishment.
Camera & security
The fridge includes a camera for video monitoring of the interaction. Product changes are registered through the weight-sensing tray system, while the camera provides an additional layer of visibility around the session.
Before a live installation, camera use, retention, signage and privacy information must be configured for the final operating setup.
For the workplace
The employee gets a simple self-service experience. Atelier Pantry handles the food range, stocking and replenishment around the fridge.
Meals, healthier options, snacks and drinks are selected and loaded for the site.
Product movement helps us understand which positions have changed and where replenishment is needed.
Atelier Pantry manages restocking rather than leaving the workplace to run the food operation.
Technical questions
Because the system is not dispensing products one by one. Multiple weight-sensing trays can register changes during the same active session, allowing several products to be combined in one basket.
Products are assigned to defined tray positions. A change in the measured weight of a tray indicates product movement at that position.
The fridge includes video monitoring to provide additional visibility around the interaction, including security and review of incidents if required.
The goal is the opposite. Atelier Pantry manages the food operation and replenishment around the fridge so the service remains light-touch for the workplace.
First Galway pilots
We’re selecting a small number of Galway workplaces for the first Atelier Pantry pilots. The first step is simply to understand your site and whether the format is a practical fit.
